End of Season Celebrations- Making it safer for your club
Many winter sports are near the end of, or have just finished their season. At the end of each season, many sporting clubs and associations traditionally celebrate participation and achievements in a variety of ways including:
- a presentation nights
- an end of season with a trip away or
- a ‘Mad Monday’ type event.
Whilst these celebrations are important, sporting clubs and associations need to be aware of and take steps to prevent the potential harms that can occur to individuals and people in the wider community as a result of alcohol misuse at these celebratory events.
This Safer Celebrations document below provides information to assist clubs to understand and take steps to minimise the risks posed by such events. For example:
What are the health and legal risks ?
What can clubs & associations do to reduce the risks of harm at end of season events ?
ACTIONS:
1. Please download or print this Safer Celebrations document below and provide talk about it at your next Committee or Board meeting.
2. Distribute this resource to your members and patrons prior to an event.
