Sample Policies

The Good Sports program requires accredited clubs to develop policies addressing a smoke-free facility and the responsible management of alcohol amongst other things.

The Australian Drug Foundation acknowledges implementing policies in community sporting clubs takes time.  Changing the culture of a club, including members' attitudes and behaviours, requires a gradual process. Planning and strategising needs to be undertaken before producing a written policy.

It is recommended that club members be consulted and involved in the development of a policy.

The Australian Drug Foundation has produced for sporting club committees and liquor nominees the following Bar Audit Template. Designed to ensure all is in readiness for the start of each sports clubs’ season, the document has been created through input by industry experts as well as existing criteria within the Good Sports program. Note that this version is most relevant to Victorian liquor licensing law.
