
South Australia Industry Launch 2004
The Pilot Project of Good Sports was launched in South Australia on June23rd, 2004 with an Industry Breakfast held at Tiffins on the Park. The Chairman of the Drug and Alcohol Services Council (DASC), Dick Wilson hosted the morning with introductory speeches from Simone Cormack the Director of Population Health Programs at DASC, James Waddell the National Operations Manager for Good Sports and Lisa Weir the SA State Manager for Good Sports. The highlight of the launch was a speech given by Craig Mann, President of the Victor Harbour Football Club, the first club to register in SA. Craig addressed the reasons his club has become involved in the program including the club recognising the need to provide a fun, family friendly environment that the whole community feels welcome in. The launch was attended by representatives from a broad range of government and community organisations including Department of Health, Office for Recreation and Sport, Department of Transport, SA Police, Motor Accident Commission, Department of Education and Children's Services, the Royal Automobile Association, Office for the Liquor and Gambling Commissioner and Clubs SA, together with representatives from a range of state sporting associations. The presence of this broad range of agencies demonstrates the extensive support and interest this program is generating.
